Fairies in the potty
The other day I was admiring the fairy trinket box my Aunt Mel gave me years ago, (she always sent the most unique gifts) and it got me thinking: I could totally create a whole fairy theme for the bathroom! We’re moving into a house soon—I don’t know how long we’ll live there, but it still gives me an opportunity to get the creative juices flowing.
I love the trinket box because of the old antique feel it has. It’s currently sitting on the back of the toilet and is really the only decoration in that bathroom. When I think fairies I think of gardens, fireflies and bold colors—like green and purple. The idea I have in my head is to incorporate Victorian designs with candles and plants.

I love the painting, it features those deep bold colors, yet it’s simple and wouldn’t make a room look too foofy.
The hanging tea light holder is very Victorian looking—the flicker of a candle can give the firefly effect, plus, I find candles soothing and romantic. I was actually trying to find a picture of the clear hanging tea light holder I saw in a shop up north, but I couldn’t find it for the life of me. The deep green would probably match better anyway.
Of course I need plants to get the garden feel. Lucky bamboo in a small vase with glass gems would be perfect in my opinion. Or maybe Orchids because they look exotic.
The bottles are for fragrance. They also have that Victoria feel and I love the subtle coloring. If I really wanted to get into it I could search for vintage bottles. The quality would probably be better..
The jar is a sun jar that actually captures sunlight creating a dim glow. It reminds me of catching fireflies when I was little and putting them in a jar. A lot of bathrooms don’t have window sills, but really, this whole fairy theme could easily be used in any room.

Hee, it’s odd that you decorate bathrooms. Our bathrooms have themes, but usually just based on the color. I think a fairy theme would be cute for (wait for it…wait for it!) a garden (ugh, whatta genius, this Helga), too!
Dont mind me. Im coughing like crazeh.

Haha I’ve never thought of doing a themed bathroom either, but it IS a cute idea! I especially like the fragrance bottles, they’re SO pretty!

I love the little box you aunt gave to you. It’s quite unique and beautiful. This sounds like a great idea though, basing your theme around faeries. Good luck with it.

I think that it would be really cute! Eventually, I want to do a Marilyn Monroe & old Hollywood glamour theme to mine.

Yay for moving into a house! Houses are so much fun to decorate! You’re just gonna go nuts…EVERYWHERE.
And I love that bamboo. It’s really simple.

The sun jar is really interesting, I’ve never seen anything like that before.

My cousin’s house has one of the bathrooms designed like a garden. She put stones on the floor and some stepping stones (or was it wood?) and I think bamboo around the walls.. it feels like an indoor outdoor garden! HAHAHA!!!

The trinket box is BEAUTIFUL! I think that would be a really neat and rare theme
I’ve always been a bit of a fan of fairies and angels.

Aw, that’s really cute.
We’ve never really decorated our bathrooms, mainly because if we put any trinkets there, we’d probably break them.

I used to love collecting fairy stuff. Once I got married I kinda grew out of it.
That sun jar looks pretty neat though! I’d like to have one. You should share the link to it sometime. =)

oh, and re: making pie crust. I usually make my own. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it (i found it hard to get the crust from the counter into the pie plate once i rolled it out, but I bought a dough scraper and that problem was solved). Sometimes I use frozen crust, but it’s not as hard as it sounds to make it yourself. if you have a food processor or blender you can just dump everything in, wait 20 seconds, and then smoosh it all together.

Very cute little trinkets! I’ve never really been into the whole antique and/or Victorian style objects but recently I’ve been looking at those more and more. I kinda wanna live in an old Victorian mansion decorated how it would’ve been back then.

I think the hanging tea light holder is adorable! And such a great idea. I think it’ll really add some warmth to the room. And it gives it a nice feel for the fall/winter weather coming towards us (although it might still be warm where you are?). The painting is gorgeous! I love the purple in it.

I really like your choices. Too often I see people doing sun/moon/stars in their bathrooms. This is a nice change.
