I’ve wanted to try out gray nail polish ever since Janine first posted about it on her blog. I just loved the whole idea of it. I think gray can mesh well with almost any outfit. Finally I got lucky after Christmas and scored a bottle of OPI’s “Sheer” your toys for 50% off. And today, I applied it to my nails for the first time.

The polish is a nice shade of gray, but I’d prefer something a little bit lighter like OPI’s Moon Over Mumbai. Still, I quite happy with the turnout, especially since I only paid $4 for it.

Even though the gray polish trend started in the Fall, it won’t be leaving us anytime soon. Zoya has released a gray shade apart of their Spring ‘09 collection, and MAC has included a little gray in their highly anticipated Hello Kitty limited edition collection.

For Spring I’m usually a pastel kind of gal, but some of these colors I’ve been seeing in upcoming releases are so unique and fab that I’ll have to try some of them out! I’m loving the bold blue color of Mesmerize by Essie. I also like almost the entire line of OPI’s South Beach Spring collection:

Miu Miu Ready-to-wear Spring ‘09

Meh. I love that Miu Miu’s pieces are more accessible and something I could actually see myself in compared to other designers, but where’s the color?! When I think spring I think color! I will say I’m a fan of the print and cut of their dresses in this collection. Still, it’s their shoes that never cease to amaze me.

Delicious Pumpkin Roll

My first attempt at making a Pumpkin Roll was around Thanksgiving, I followed a recipe from a family cookbook and it turned out delicious. I was actually going to post the recipe around that time (would have made more sense) but I didn’t get any good photos before the roll got devoured. I was so proud of myself, and it made me happy the boyfriend liked it so much. He had never tried one before and was skeptic about me making one. In his face! He now prefers the roll over pumpkin pie and the same goes for myself. If you’ve never tried a pumpkin roll before you don’t know what you’re missing! Recently he made a request that I make another one, and it turned out just as good. The bonus this time was that I didn’t make such a mess! Some may only crave this delicious desert around the holidays, but I feel it’s perfect for anytime you’re craving some pumpkin goodness.

Pumpkin Roll
Beat 3 eggs for 5 minutes.

Gradually add:
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
2/3 c. pure pumpkin

Sift Together:

1 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Add mixture together. Grease and flour pan (or spray it) 15×10 inches. Put mixture in pan. Top with 1 cup chopped nuts. (Optional) Bake at 375º for 15 minutes or until done.

Put dish towel (I use wax paper), sprinkled with powered sugar, size of pan. Put cake on towel. Roll up; let cool in refrigerator. Unroll for filling.

Filling:
1 c. powered sugar
4 tsp. butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat smooth; spread all over cake. Roll back up. Put in refrigerator. When cooled, sliced desired thickness.

Happy New Year everyone! I was going to make my own graphic but I’m too lazy. I rang in the New Year watching Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve wearing my pajamas. It’s the first time I haven’t went out and partied it up in years!

How did you celebrate the occasion?

Hopefully I’ll start updating this site more. I’ll make it one of my New Year’s resolutions! I’ve been so preoccupied with my other website I’ve been too lazy to update this one.

Oh, and I hope everyone had a great Christmas also! I was going to post pictures of my presents but never got around to it. I got a lot of little things.. my favorite being the Victoria’s Secret perfume set. I also finally got Influence.

Hopefully this year is better than the last. I need to get motivated. Motivation is like the key word for me this year.

Awesome Christmas lights and decorations

This neighborhood I went to with the boyfriend the other day had the best Christmas lights and decorations I’ve ever seen. I already posted the link to the video on Twitter, but I also wanted to post it here. I took some photos too but a lot of them turned out blurry. My favorite decoration was the homemade merry-go-round made out of a ceiling fan. Don’t mind me babbling away in the video; the boyfriend kept having trouble with my camera. One day when I own a home I hope I can go crazy with the decorations!

Barbie body parts jewelry

When I first stumbled upon the “Plastic Body Series” jewelry by Margaux Lange, I thought the pieces were somewhat bizarre. But, being the doll lover I am I changed my mind and actually find the collection very unique and interesting.

Margaux’s “Plastic Body Series” jewellery stems from a desire to re-purpose common materials (Barbie dolls!) in combination with metals. She takes pleasure in the contrast and contradiction of something mass-produced being transformed and revealed as a unique, handmade, wearable piece of art.

I really adore the “Have a Heart necklace” (Barbie boobs). I thought I’d be too afraid to wear a boobs necklace, but it’s not really all that provocative because Barbie doesn’t have any nipples! (I’ve always wondered why…?) Still, if I wore it I’d probably get a lot of attention!

No, I’m not referring to porn, I’m talking about Christmas movies that get me into the holiday mood! After all, I need extra convincing that it’s actually the holiday season living in hot, snow-less Florida. So, here’s some of my favorite movies to watch this time of year…I know I probably forgot some. In no particular order—with A Christmas Story as an exception because it really is my number one.

Q-pot + Disney Japan is fabulous

Again, I’ve managed to find more lust items that I’ll most likely never own… it’s the wonderful pieces of jewelry from the collaboration between Japanese brand Q-Pot and Disney. The collection is based on Mickey Mouse and Alice in Wonderland (almost everyone loves Alice?) It features amazing necklaces, rings, charms and other items that are making me wish I lived in Japan—they make the coolest stuff! My favorite pieces are the edgy Alice teardrop and Minnie Mouse rings. I’m thinking I could use Japan to door to a purchase the Minnie ring, it’s more affordable (around $150 US) than the Alice ring priced around $340 US. Has anyone ever used that site before? Otherwise, I could wait around and see if something pops up on eBay.
