My cute cupcakes taste like poo.
I always wanted to try baking cupcakes in ice cream cones since I can remember. My Aunt Shirley used to make them for me to take to elementary school on my birthdays; everyone always got a kick out of them including me. I wonder if they still do that? Kids taking desert to school on their birthday…shouldn’t it be the other way around? I mean, as an adult I sure as hell wouldn’t bake my own cake. I just remember it being the rule that you had to bring something on your birthday. Whatever they wanna do.
So…I attempted my first cone cupcakes the other day. I followed a simple recipe from a magazine using brownie mix, chocolate Hershey’s Kisses, and whipped topping mix. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find whipped topping anywhere in the grocery store. I know I’m blind and it usually takes me 20 minutes longer than the average person to find an item, but I just think they didn’t have any. Instead, I bought already made whipped frosting because the boyfriend insisted—that right there would cause me not to like the cupcakes as much. I hate premade frosting because it’s too sugary. I don’t know how people eat the stuff by itself out of the container…I guess you’d have to try homemade frosting to know the difference. The boyfriend also suggested I get peanut butter kisses instead of chocolate ones. Yuck…I like peanut butter but it did not mesh well with the brownie. For me, the cupcakes were disgusting! I started eating one and spit it out. Good thing the boyfriend liked them because I would of hated throwing them all out. Basically, he likes anything with a lot of sugar.

The recipe said to add three large eggs; I added three medium eggs, so that could be the reason why the brownie ended up being hard instead of a cake-like texture. I love my nail! The nail polish shade is Essie’s Secret Affair—it makes a nice clean look.

The kisses would have made a delicious surprise (c-c-corny) if I hadn’t used peanut butter ones. At least they prevented the cones from falling over. I need a new muffin/cupcake pan. I only have one if you noticed.

And…the cupcakes! See, they’re so cute! Too bad they were gross. Makes for a good picture though.

Those are so cute! I love peanut butter cups, so peanut butter kisses would probably rate fairly highly in my book too.
I think your nailpolish looks awesome! I noticed it even before you mentioned it!

That sucks that they didn’t turn out the way you wanted to. The pictures look great though..

Mmmm… They look delish! Practice makes perfect though, right? =) You’ll have to share a link to the recipe!

Peanut butter kisses are red? Whoa!! I’m sorry they didn’t turn out the way you wanted them to. They look beautiful and delicious to me though. =]

Those look SO good! I’m slowly falling in love with making cupcakes. There are so many variations. At least yours end up looking cute. Mine taste good, but taste like total crap.
And what is the deal with birthdays at school nowadays? Alexis isn’t even allowed to bring anything. She has to donate a book to the school’s library because “Kids get so much these days. They need to learn how to give.” WTF?! Seriously?

Those are adorable! Are the cones still crunchy after you bake them?
I’m one of those people who sometimes eat icing out of the jar.. it’s sooo good but so bad so I try not to do it often.

Aww, it sucks that it didn’t taste too well but it looks so delicious and cute. Mmmm. Hopefully next time they’ll turn out better. I’m not quite good with baking. The stuff turns out hard like rocks and burnt.

Those are so cute! And they look really delicious. I wonder how the cones taste after being baked. Won’t they crumble or get a little stale or something?

My gosh they look and sound so good! Yes, they do still take in things like this on their birthdays in elementary school and my daughter comes home squealing about it and can’t wait til her birthday. I better come up with something good!

Those are cute. I’ve never seen anything like that before. That sucks you didn’t like them though.

I also been planning to make this… just too afraid the cones would burn or the mix will make it soggy or something! LOL!!!
Ahh!! Gotta hate baking disasters!!! I experience a bunch of those!!!

Those are beyond cute! That sucks that you didn’t like how they turned out though. Man, I want to try to make them so badly now. Where did you get the recipe?

There used to be the same tradition at my old primary school as well – i used to take a cake with me up until i was 11 years old
… where i work now we have that same tradition again! The birthday boy / girl has to get a nice dessert with them
Hope next time you attempt them they will be just perfect!

First off, I love your nail in the first picture!
Secondly, those cone cupcakes are SO cute, even if they taste like poo. What a neat little idea.

They’re super cute, so at least that counts, right?
The kiss in the cone is a really cute idea. I’ve made ice cream cone cupcakes once before, but I just used regular cupcake batter.
I agree, canned icing is gross, it’s all vegetable shortening and tastes like hardened arteries :/

I made those one and the bottom never cooked, so it was just batter in side the cone…But i still ate them
