Singing and American Idol.
I’ve been following American Idol this season, before I never really cared to watch it because I hate jumping on the bandwagon. I used to only watch the try outs because I find them hilarious. The boyfriend always tells me that I should try out for the show, I’ve thought about it at the most for 10 seconds but I don’t think I ever will. I’ve loved singing ever since I was young, when I was 11 years old I auditioned for a high school production of Music Man, I was extremely nervous because I had to sing and read a few lines in front of about 30 people - I ended up getting a part. After a couple weeks of practice I ended up quitting, I haven’t a clue why but I think it had something to do with my stage fright.
When I was in choir through out high school we used to have a performance day where we had to sing something… I remember always pairing up with some one else just so I wouldn’t have to do it by myself. It was such a shame, because when I was singing with another person I knew I would over power their vocals so I wouldn’t sing to my full potential. No one ever knew the voice I had until later on in life.
I’m not saying I’m a great or extraordinary singer but I do sing well. When my mother and uncle heard a recording I did on the computer they didn’t even think it was me singing! I would say I have more of a classical voice…like a Disney voice! You can watch this video to kinda hear what I sound like.
The thing I don’t like about Idol is how mean Simon can be, sure he makes it entertaining and I laugh at how big of a jerk he is but I wouldn’t want to be the person he’s criticizing. Another thing I wouldn’t want is to be The American Idol. If I had a shot at singing professionally I would want to be on Broadway or something of the sort. I wouldn’t want to be a singer who wins a contest and has all her decisions made for her, only to be dropped from the record label if I didn’t end up racking in the cash. I don’t think I could sing in front of millions of people either, I don’t mind singing in front of a couple people or someone I’m closed to (James) but I always end up getting nervous in front of a lot of people, even if it’s just karaoke.
My favorite contestants on Idol this season are Ramiele Malubay and David Archuleta. They both have such mature voices for their ages.
I know, I know…this post was so back and fourth - sorry!

Wow you sound great! And you are really pretty on video! Even prettier than your cam.
Ugh I hate American Idol. I don’t really like pop in general. I would rather musicians make it when they write and perform their own music and not from having a pretty voice and winning a contest.

J - I think the same thing about Idol. I don’t like how the people are just handed a recording contract when others have to fight hard to make it in the music industry. It goes the same way for a lot of reality shows.
I do enjoy watching people with nice voices sing though, and the try outs crack me up.

Oh, and they were chicken strips in the photo. We ate a whole “family size” bag of them and they were delicious!

You do sound disney! XD
I can’t sing to save my life. My god… :/
And I don’t really like American Idol, though I’ve never actually sat down and watched it.
I dislike that Simon guy… I’d like to see someone belittle him like he does everyone else.
I guess they are putting themselves up to be kicked around, but it’s not very pleasant. So I just don’t watch it. lol.
I do remember though, with that Chinese rap guy? or someone? that did some immitation … a really bad one, of some rapping and then landed a whole contract because he was sooo bad.
He had CDs out and stuff too…
And tennis!
Cold! D:

Oooh, Ramielle, I like her too, I think she sings really good, and cute too.. but sometimes her hair distracts me, like I want to either chop her bangs or clip it in place!!! LOL! I haven’t had the chance to check the guys so I don’t know who to pick… but that David Archuleta guy, I know is a crowd favorite. And that he won Star Search or something like that… I think it’s another singing competiton.
Oooh, I think it’s elimination night tonight. I don’t really watch tv… I’ll just check it out later on news websites. HAHAHA!
PS. When I first saw your test video on Vimeo.. that was what I thought: Disney Princess! Hehe!

I advertise my website services on Craigslist, and that’s gotten me a few through word of mouth. My crappy portfolio (seriously, I need to redo it big time) is at hollow-star.net/designs.
One a Day vitamins really give you energy I have found. My boyfriend got them for me and I forget to take them, but there’s a noticeable difference days I do.

It’s so cool to read that you love to sing 8) (I do too!).
I love to watch Idols, we have the Dutch one running here now (tomorrow the last part). I would never try to go to Idols though. When you win, they are going to plan your future. At least the 1st year of it. Then you’re not the boss anymore. Someone is living you
. That just sucks.
If you wanna be a part of Idols I think that you should have to just go for it no mather what Simon would say. Maybe you won’t be the winner, but when someone thinks you are great they can make you a star. If people know you thèn you can make IT.
I just wanna say: if the big public knows you then you can be a real singer and make it your job. When they love you, you can do everything you want. Broadway?
Never give up your dreams. Live your dream.
Good luck
xoxo!

I don’t sing at all =/ Well, only when I’ve had a little alcohol and there’s a videoke machine around. I am Filipino, after all
Comes with the territory, heh.
I’m following this season’s AI. I never cared much about the show, but I started this season by watching the auditions, fell in love with Noriega and Brooke White and so here I am!
I love love love Malubay and Archuleta, too. I hate Smithson, ugh.
